Description
Monkey House is a “one of a kind” vacation retreat with 2 air conditioned bedrooms, 2-baths and a unique luxury tree house feel. The house sleeps 4 and is perfect for 2 couples or a small family - kids under 8 are not permitted! The entire home is completely private with a tall security wall, floor to ceiling glass, and an alarm system which provides comfort, privacy, safety, and a sense of being suspended out over the rain forest. This cozy home is located in a privileged position within the foraging routes of 3 species of monkeys. It’s the same lush, tropical setting where you’d expect Tarzan to swing by on a vine. It’s perfectly located in Manuel Antonio with a semi-private bay and beautiful beach a short 10 minute walk away and many restaurants close by.
There are many vacation rentals in Manuel Antonio but there is only one Cozy Monkey House. What sets it apart is it’s owners, a wildlife photographer and conservationist couple whose passion for endangered primates led them to Costa Rica as naturally as a river seeks the sea. Many of their wildlife photos adorn the walls. David and Evelyn spent more than 30 years traveling through the remotest rain forests of Africa, Southeast Asia, and Latin America in search of the most elusive apes and monkeys. They worked with scientists such as gorilla expert Dr. Dian Fossey, and orangutan authority Dr. Biruté Galdikas. David produced a documentary, “Orangutans Grasping the Last Branch.” Evelyn is the author of the award-winning photo-illustrated book, Among the Orangutans. She was invited to speak at more than 500 schools around the world and inspired students with her captivating photos and stories about endangered primates and their rain forest habitats. These students were motivated to action and wrote letters to pen pals in Uganda and formed partnerships with them to help save their dwindling wildlife. Some students raised funds to hire anti-poaching patrols to protect mountain gorillas in Rwanda, others recycled cans and bottles and used the proceeds to feed and provide critical veterinary care to orphaned orangutans they adopted in Borneo. Of all the countries they visited the owners adopted Costa Rica as their home.
The Monkey House is as much a part of nature as the exotic flowers, plants and trees that envelope it in their cozy cocoon. A group of howler monkeys often sleeps in a nearby tree. Red-backed squirrel and capuchin monkeys use the terrace as a playground. Sloths and tempestquintles are a common sight. As for luxury, our personal Concierge Manager will assist with all of your requirements during your stay to ensure it is relaxing and stress free. Come be a part of the adventure. You’ll take home memories, photos and stories that will last forever. Reserve this great home now.
